What a smart and human way to get you moving…

If I'm being honest I wasn't expecting what I've experienced so far with the Get It Done Workshop, sure, the Get It Done book is great, but this course isn't how I'd imagined at all. You find you've leapt down a rabbit hole, when you thought you were entering a door marked "Self Motivation and Productivity". This is much deeper than that. What a smart and human way to get you moving without all the usual tiring grim optimism of traditional methods. You're interacting with a living thing with this whole process. As a result you'll be changed. This is an authentic process because its author has "been there, done that." She is one of us. For me these materials are powerful and effective because they're not simply beautifully polished psychological or spiritual pearls to be stroked and admired from a distance. No, this is a Specials Operation Manual for artists and creative people, those on the front line of self-esteem, which can be destroyed at any moment. Thick in enemy territory, where others may not be thrilled by what you produce, or even relish the fact you don't produce anything at all! This territory is real and you know it well, now you can learn how to navigate it well, and thrive in it. So have no fear. You're being trained, re-programmed, from the inside by a specialist in these peculiarly difficult territories. The tools you'll use have that indefinable feel of 'real working tools', ones actually used in action. They either work, or they're ditched. There's too much at stake here. Your life. Your dreams. Remember those? It's worth repeating: temporary positive ra-ra feel good stuff isn't going to cut it when you're out there taking shots, or sabotaging yourself from within. That's why you need well designed materials, from someone with actual experience on the front line. Even as you start to use them you'll intuitively recognise the qualities of these tools, which have clearly been refined over the years. No 'inspired' nonsense from a bogus guru here. This is the real, mucky stuff that works, and can even be fun. To continue the military metaphor, these tools have earned their stripes. Sam has you covered. You, reading this, are a unique individual who distrusts testimonials, just like me. To be sure, not every last thing will chime and thrill you in Get It Done, and that's ok. Sam and her methods acknowledge this. You're a human adult and the time has come to take action on what matters to you. No great drama, just a genuine process that WILL actively engage YOU. We're both adult enough, you the reader of these words and myself the Surprised-To-Be-Writing-A-Testimonial Person, to appreciate that it will only ever be YOU who gets things done, you're the only one that will ever make the changes. It can be a scary truth to acknowledge that, especially in the happy-clappy glittery world of Self-Improvement Without Tears. Fortunately for us Sam deals in YOU, warts and all. Fully human, fully flawed and her methods and approaches are based on that recognition. Smart, practical, compassionate, above all adult. This is why these methods work. You know in your heart what needs to be done, but having a smart, crafty, and yes, funny guide to keep you on YOUR straight and narrow is invaluable. That's what you'll experience with "Get It Done." The beauty for me is not having to buy into another philosophy of life or viewpoint. This is about a constant process, steady feedback. Simply refer to the "Special Operations Manual," get back on the horse and off you go again. I've never encountered a productivity/get-things-done method that has "You're not perfect, but you are unique" at its beating heart. Many pay lip service to this, but Sam's approach feels like its been grown and honed over the years. Because results do matter in the end, not simply feeling good. That's the adult part of "Get It Done." There's a number of unpleasant realities that need to be faced and processed not simply acknowledged and quickly waved away. Get It Done is unique in getting them out from under the bed, perhaps in time to even use as allies. Or if not, at least something you can use as a lever to move where you want to be. Sam talks to you as an artist, a creative person, and above all as an Official Weird Person™. This is a beautiful and important point. This validation of your difference is at the heart of Sam's methods. I've never encountered this approach before. As artists or creative people we know that Sam is one of us. That is a significant chunk of inertia removed right there. We feel at home with her, because...well, because she's one of us. We all know little and often works, but it almost sounds too banal and simplistic, but engaging with Get It Done you experience its very real power. I love the way Sam's method are based on the idea of bringing out what is already in you. If your creative spirit were an animal then you, via Sam, create an environment where it no longer feels threatened and can appear in broad daylight, even thrive. Again, that's a unique quality I've discovered with these materials and no others. You no longer have to be a self-improvement Don Quixote tilting at tedious imaginary targets which you don't really care about and would do you no good; instead you can focus and align yourself, so ironically enough, you simply get out of you own way. No dazzling lights, heavenly choirs, just simple steady daily methods that wont freak out and awaken the Monster Of Inertia or upset that Crazy Artist Rebel inside you who's so rebellious they will even rebel at creating any art at all. If you're willing to meet the Get It Done approaches half-way, you'll be in a great position to move forward with your 'stuff'. Initially I have to be honest and admit I felt overwhelmed with these approaches, but that's simply part of the process, there are fail safes built in to this approach every step of the way. How can I say this? Because I'm still using and exploring these methods. Normally by now I'd have thought "Stuff this, it's too much like work!"—Yes, it is work, that's because this is a real living process you're engaging with, but it WILL re-energise you. You'll recognise and feel so much better for finally, FINALLY, starting on what you were put here to do. Sam certainly doesn't deal in Rainbows and Unicorns, this is the real deal, you WILL acknowledge your monsters and learn to process and work with these as a part of what you are. Lets face it non of us are Angels and that's fine. Sam is ok with that too, you're a unique weird human being just as you should be. All petulant frenzies can be dealt with in a sane, practical, and discreet manner. In conclusion, Sam seems to have a genius for developing easy, natural approaches and techniques to rally your troops, all without tweaking the nose of inertia, which is often the case with other methods. Here you can acknowledge your monsters but are also smart enough to maneuver around them and simply get on with your own projects. Of course the acid test is where I'll be a couple of years from now, but I've no great concerns about that. Given the way this process works why should I? As cheesy as this might sound, I am concerned about you reading this right now. If a testimonial-hating, grumpy cynic like me can embrace this fluid, crafty approach then why not you?
